THE-GRASSMARKET.COM is one of a group
of 'connected' websites by Chameleon Design covering different
areas in Edinburgh.
The first site, Edinburgh-Royalmile.com
was launched in October 2005 and has so far attracted
over 119,000 hits and over 130 participating
businesses.
It has been archived by The National Library
Of Scotland and has gained No1. status in GOOGLE for 'Royal
Mile' and 'Places to Shop Edinburgh' (amongst other commonly
used keywords)
The-Grassmarket.com was originally
set up as a spring-site to Edinburgh-Royalmile.com but
now 'The-Grassmarket.com' has become a
separate website, celebrating the Grassmarket in it's own
right whilst still being closely intergrated with the Royal
Mile, Princes Street & George Street
websites.
In June 2006, Chameleon
Design won the contract to design a site for The George
Street Association. EdinburghGeorgeStreet.co.uk
was launched in Dec 2006, although it is a very different
looking site to The Royal Mile they both share same formula
for the Street Maps (each businesses ordered by their physical
location) and the same colour coding is used for shops,
restaurants, businesses etc..
Chameleon Design had already secured
the web site addresses for Princes-Street.com which
also includes Rose Street so it seemed logical to 'link
up' the George Street site covering the North with the
Royal Mile and the Grassmarket to the South. Giving visitors
not only several ways to find these sites via search engines,
but also allowing them to click their way around a significant
part of Edinburgh's Old and New towns Street by Street.
All businesses are listed on the relevant STREETMAPS side
by side and as they are in real life and colour coded
as per their type , Shop, Resaurant etc.. the layout should
be familiar to locals who know the area as well as being
useful for visitors who don't.
All businesses can purchase links directly
to their own website from everywhere they
feature on the site (which could be several places including;
Street Maps, Photo Gallery and Links pages, plus a listing
in the relevant Directory.
All for ONLY £40 PER YEAR
(No obligation or minimum contract. Just One payment of
£40 once per year.)
The cost is a flat yearly fee for all businessess, it is
deliberately inexpensive because we want everyone to join,
large and small. The more businesses who link from these
sites the more choice there is for visitors, the more choice-
the more people will visit- The more visitors - The more
business and everyone benefits.
Linked businesses help to create an useful interactive map
of the area while opening their own 'virtual doors' to an
increase of on-line traffic. In turn, this creates a useful
and rewarding experience for vistors who can discover more
about Edinburgh's past and present, to Shop, Book Restaurants
or Theatre tickets or to browse through an extensive Photo
Library of Edinburgh images.
The George Street website is owned by the George Street
Association and membership to the Association includes free
links to businesses websites.

prestigeous streets, exporting the formula from one capital

launched for the Bruntsfield Traders Association. All these
sites help to promote each other.
