CROCKET'S
LAND
Thomas Crocket, a merchant built this grand house in 1705,
instilling a Dutch character to the exterior gable and a
striking contemporary feel to the inside which belied his
experience of the low countries during his profitable years
of trading.
The pink building is much loved by residents and tourists
as a distinct landmark and treasured as one of the few intact
merchants houses in this district.
The house has been sympathetically restored by Highland
Entrepreneurs Annie and Lachlan Stewart as a shop at street
level with upper floor living accommodation – in keeping
with its former layout and function. |
